Partnership holds spring meeting on Legal Defense of trucking industry

On March 23, 2012 the NEPA Logistics & Transportation Industry Partnership held its 2012 spring meeting at Valley Country Club,West Hazleton, Pa – where a pristine day provided exceptional views from windows overlooking the Country Club grounds.  This meeting was held in collaboration with the NEPA Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) chapter – and was approved for re-certification through SHRM’s Human Resource Certification Institute.

Elaine Stalfa, Site Administrator for the PA CareerLink® center in Hazleton, Pa., lead off the meeting with a summary of PA CareerLink® services that is available to employers & the myriad of ways that PA CareerLink® is available to assist employers.  See more for employers as well as job seekers at www.cwds.state.pa.us

Our extraordinary guest speaker for the morning was Douglas Marcello, Esq., founding partner of Marcello & Kivisto, LLC – where all law partners hold commercial driver’s licenses (CDL) and only take cases defending the trucking industry.   Presenting the topic of “Trucking Defense 2.0 – Aggressive Defense of Trucking Litigation” Atty. Marcello gave proven information to keep companies protected in the case of driver accidents,   tactics used against the industry and accident response, including details on new means of evidence through social media.  Marcello & Kivisto, LLC, is located on the web at www.cdl-law.com.

March, 2011 – Industry Partnership training survey completed. 

 

April, 2011 – Leadership identified spring training – utilizing worker training grant funds – to be offered in Customer Service and Warehousing in Today’s Business Environment.  To be offered on consortium basis if not filled from within industry.  Rollout by June 30th.  Contact us for detail.
