The NEPA Logistics & Transportation Industry Partnership Fall meeting was held on Oct 14, 2011, at Valley Country Club in West Hazleton. Michael Carroll, PA State Representative, District #118 lead off the meeting with industry commentary from the state perspective, followed by King’s College with internship availability and the Center for Independent Living with information on National Disability Employment Month.

Presenter, Rim Yurkus, President & CEO, Strategic Programs, Inc. engaged attendees on Driver Engagement and Retention Best Practices: A Journey from Good to Great. Mr. Yurkus’s take aways and power point presentation available here. Partner members found information relevant and usable in driver recruiting with ways to ensure hiring success.

Lucyann Vierling, Executive Director, Luzerne Schuylkill Workforce Investment Board, Inc., which oversees the partnership, wrapped up our meeting.

March, 2011 – Industry Partnership training survey completed. 

 

April, 2011 – Leadership identified spring training – utilizing worker training grant funds – to be offered in Customer Service and Warehousing in Today’s Business Environment.  To be offered on consortium basis if not filled from within industry.  Rollout by June 30th.  Contact us for detail.
